I currently work for Thompson Rivers University. I am a software specialist. The largest portion
of my job is working on the TRU website. I spend a lot of time building forms, and creating
templates for all the subsites. I manage the user account for our content management system.
Also have resposiblities for other online systems.
Some of the areas of computers I am interested in includes programming, database administration,
webpage design and development, and computer hardware. I want to continually upgrade through
courses and books to learn more and expand my skill set.
One of my projects right now is working on web site designs. I've liked creating things from the
time I was a small kid. I eventually got into programming. I enjoy creating web sites because it
requires me to use both my artistic talents and my programming skills together. Most of my spare
time is spent building my website or taking photos.
My wife bought me a camera for Christmas and since then I have taken many pictures. I put most of
my good pictures on this site. If I could I would take a photography course but for now I am just
playing around learning what I can.
I also like working as a volunteer at my church. For about eight years I ran the sound equipment
at my church. I also was a youth leader for about 5 years. My wife and I led Sunday school
for the 5 to 7 year old kids. The greatest thing I have learned is never to give little kids
chocolate cake unless someone else is going to take care of them! Now just my wife takes care of
these little guys.
We are also part of the pastoral care team in our church. This means we help people in our area
who belong to our church. We also help with Emerge which is a group of university aged people.
We get together and hang out for an hour then talk about topics that will help young adults become
successful in their everyday life and prepare them for the future.
Studying is my other favorite thing to do. I study just about anything. Ask my mom or my wife.
If I am trying to figure something out the whole world is put on hold and there is no use trying
to tell me something important. My favorite things to study is the Bible, Leadership, computers
and of coarse food. Did you know the only ingredient listed on the back of a molasses carton is
molasses? Figure that one out!
