I work for an absolutely wonderful company; it is small only 8 people are full time employed.
The shop’s name is Kamloops Tile works. I have worked there for just over 4 years now. When I
originally applied for the job I had found a newspaper add saying “sales job” and just a fax
number. I faxed through my resume and within a few minutes I had received a phone call and was
booked for an interview. After receiving directions to a part of town that I hardly knew existed
(there was only one business nearby that I knew of). I met with Angie for my interview, she moved
us upstairs for me to fill out a form (little did I know they were interviewing someone else
downstairs). Angie asked me to come back and “try it out” I fell in love with it almost instantly.
I now work 4 days a week and couldn’t ask for better people to work with or for a more wonderful
job. We have many repeat customers and it’s great to get to help people make such a big decision-
for those of you that have never put tile in you wouldn’t understand what a big decision it is,
however for those that have they would understand completely. Over the past four years I have been
taught many things, and with my inquisitiveness for just how it works I’ve asked many questions and
therefore developed my knowledge to even greater levels. I am now fully confident in my abilities
as a tile consultant, any questions regarding tile (ceramic or porcelain), slate, granite, marble,
travertine, limestone and even quartzite I am fully capable to answer. As well as any questions on
the installation process. I love my job and I thank God everyday for the wonderful people that I
work for and with.
If you read Orlund’s “what I do” section then you know about all the church projects that we are
involved in. I truly love helping out in the Sunday school. We don’t have any children yet (unless
you count the cat that’s practically attached at the hip to me) so Sunday school is my “outlet” of
mothering. I think Orlund also appreciates that I have an outlet- other wise it is more like he
married a mother not a wife ? The Children keep me well entertained, I feel that working with the
young children they teach me more than I can teach them. Have you ever just listened to what little
children talk about? And what they do? They are happy! They just want to have fun, they don’t gossip,
they are good at supporting one another. Once in a while there is a little tiff but usually they are
back to friends before you are even able to find out just what happened.
