This past week I have been reading John C. Maxwell's book called 'The 21 Most Powerful Minutes
in a Leaders Day'.
The topic was called 'The law of the Lid'. Every person has lid's that are like a ceiling on their
Leadership abilities. Some lids we lift our self and some lids we need others to lift.
What crossed my mind is what lid's do I lift for others? Am I a lid lifter for others around me or am I tightening the lid on them? Am I so concerned about getting ahead in my life that I forget to help others be a success in their life?
There are, I think, some useless lids that we sometimes put on people because we are careless. For example, when we complain about things. I find it really hard when people complain about things that seem so small. Maybe the reason why is because they do not see the bigger picture. It causes frustration and decreases morale.
Before we get carried away at looking at others we need to look at our selves. I know how much I detest complaining but how do I respond to things that I don't like? Am I looking at the bigger picture? Is there a bigger picture than what I can see? We need to take a look at our own response to things.
Second, if people are complaining then why are they complaining? Many times the reason is not what it appears to be. What is the root cause? What can we do to lift their lid?
