Our Christmas at Mile High Adventure Resort.

Here is our Christmas adventure. Like most of our stories something goofy ends up happening. And like usual it is because we forgot something or missed something. So this time it starts out that we missed the sign. We missed the BIG HUGE sign that says "Mile High Adventure Resort. This way ->”. But what we didn't miss is the adventure. In fact by missing the sign we ended up in the biggest adventure.

Well I didn't realize how soon the turn off was and so we drove and drove. We started to look hard for the sign but soon we found the next town. Since it was late I decided that rather than driving back and trying to find it, it would be faster to ask the guy at the gas station. The guy said he didn't know then asked if it was the same as mile high lake. I said it was (figured that was how they got the name for the resort.) He said it was about 2 km. out of town. First thing I learned here was that you should never take directions from a thirty year old who still works at a gas pump. There is probably a reason he still works there. We found a turn off and started to drive up it. it was very step and eventually we just spun out.

We were able to back down to a turn around. We turned

around and took a faster run at it but this time did not even make it to a turn around. We managed to get the car half turned around so it was setting perpendicular on the road but almost went over the steep embankment. Because my wife cannot drive standard, she was the one trying to push the car as I slowly gave it gas. Twice we got even closer to the edge. The last attempt I told her to move away. Ether I was going down with the car or the car would turn for us. Lucky for us it was slippery and as I gave it gas the car slide and turned back on the road.

t the gas station once more I decided to ask a customer where it was. It was at least fourteen km. from town. So finally at about 7:30pm we got to our little cabin.

Below is the main lodge and the Lake and it is not called mile high lake. It is actually Face Lake.

We had lots of fun playing games, eating food, opening gifts and snow shoeing. Snow shoeing was one of our favourites because we never did it before. My least favourite was stoking the fire every couple of hours in the night. My wife's least favourite was the frequent bathroom trips in the night through the snow up hill both ways. We learned quick not to drink too much at night. Below is me poking the fire and my wife with one of her stocking stuffers.

The one last photo below is a cabin. We're not too sure what it is used for but I liked all the colors and thoght it would make a cool photo so here it is:
